Skills Beast Has Launched!

Every week on Fox Footy Jason Dunstall famously blows up at the use of dribble kicks and bad kicking techniques. It’s one of the reasons that SKILLS BEAST was born.

Dunstall’s antics aren’t just TV showmanship, he has a genuine passion for the technique of kicking the ball.

As one of the greatest forwards to ever play the game, kicking the ball straight was his greatest weapon. He did it so well that he kicked 100 goals in an AFL season six times and 1254 for his career.

So, when his old mate and fellow former AFL player Craig Devonport came to him with an idea about improving kicking techniques, he was all ears.

Devonport saw that in a time poor society the ability to teach young footballers proper kicking techniques was lessening and the evidence was seen every week on the field, from beginners right through to the elite level.

Specifically, he noticed that the positioning of the arms and body when kicking was hampering the skill development. Young players were repeating the same mistakes and not able to understand that they were doing wrong.

It was then that he set to work on a coaching aid that would help keep a player’s body in the right alignment to kick. If the best kicking coaches could not get to every young player in the country to put them in the right position to kick, he aimed to provide something else that would do the job.

After prototypes were made up and initially tests conducted, he went to see Dunstall, as who else could provide greater feedback than a legend of the game who is so vocal about the art of kicking?

Dunstall was immediately impressed by the theory behind the product and the simplicity of its application to all levels of players. Together they further refined the product, with numerous versions of their vision being produced as they worked to achieve the right technique outcome.

More than four years have passed since Devonport’s initial idea, but today SKILLS BEAST is launched across Australia for footballers young and old.

SKILLS BEAST will become essential for all footballers, whether they’re aiming to learn how to kick properly as beginners, improve their kicking on their non-dominant foot, or veterans wanting to sharpen skills they thought they’d mastered.

The SKILLS BEAST set consists of a specially designed arm sleeve that keeps your guiding arm in perfect alignment, with connection to a body harness that keeps the body biomechanically correct to execute a proper and repeatable kicking action.

The product is usable for all ages, whether it’s a child starting their football journey, or those competing at AFL and AFLW level that want to refine.

Dunstall says the product will assist kicking at all levels.
